Wireless but it's not Wi-Fi...What is this?

There's no wires to install. Just plug it in and you're ready to do networking. What is it? No, not Wi-Fi. Hint, it uses wires but you don't have to worry about it at any stage......

Power-line networking.

Power-line networking technology has been around for quite some time now but its not coming into mainstream anytime soon. Why? Well mostly, the culprit is Wi-Fi. But newer power-line networking products are now faster than 802.11b. And I think it's now cheaper than Wi-Fi devices.

Check out this product from devolo.

The VERZIO m700 Digi-Cam

It took me a long time to write a review because of two things.....I had a busted SD card and it took me a while to have my pictures printed. (the most important part for the review)

To get it out of the way, I only get my photos done in one shop in Makati, Pixel Point in Glorietta. So it wouldn't be fair if I print my m700 pictures somewhere else where the output quality is unpredictable....But, I really want to see the printed outputs of this new camera so I succumbed into having it printed when we visited the newly opened SM Taytay mall. But it will be taken into consideration. Now, on with the review....The Verzio m700.

To quote it from their website, "you are assured of premium-quality optics with your Verzio digital camera -- [The ultimate eye candy]."

"Large 2.5"TFT Display. CCD Sensor. 4x Digital Zoom. 3x Optical Zoom. Built-in Flash. SD/MMC Slot Support. PC Interface. Low Power Consumption. AV Out. 2x "AA" Alkaline Batteries."

I'll make it brief with the looks of the camera.....It comes in two colors. I have the silver model. Get the other one. The silver model makes it look like any other digicams out there.

CONTROLS. Responsiveness is quite good. Easy to get used to.
At first I thought the autofocus needs work. But my settings was not just set for autofocus (it was set on 9-area) . For average users & people/candid shooters like me, autofocus is important.

Quick Tip: I tend to not breathe when clicking the shutter, and arms tucked in to have a more stable shot. And if you have a tripod, use it.

The Scene Modes button is really great! You can quickly adjust shooting mode from there. (But I guess most recent mid-to-prosumer digicams already have these feature)

TFT Display. Good! The larger the viewing area, the better.

Lens/Sensor. ISO 50 - 800. F/3.1, (wide) - 5.9 (tele). Digital camera features shouldn't list digital zooms on them. It's part of the hardware feature, but I really find it useless.

Image Formats. JPEG (DCF/DPOF/EXIF). MJPEG for Video. 640x480 30fps maximum resolution. 0.3M/2M/5M/8M/10M (10M is firmware interpolation)

The internal 32MB is of course very lacking considering it's a 7mp camera.

Low Power Consumption -- I'll only find that out when it's time to get new batteries. Batteries included by the way, so you can fire away once you open the box. Auto-power-off (now you won't get images of your feet and floors anymore).

Picture Quality. I have tried using the 4MP & 7MP modes. Print quality is good enough although considering that I'm not happy where I took my pictures for developing, I'm still expecting more out of this camera. (I'll add a post on this soon).

Overall: A price tag of around 8K for a 7MP Camera with its supported features, very nice indeed.
