Nokia says MP3 players, digicams to become obsolete

I can't help not reacting to this article. Are they kidding? Mobile Phones will make Digicams Obsolete?

That Nokia EVP obviously doesn't know the advancements in digital photography. And the most obvious hurdle Nokia faces is that if you'll include an mp3 player and a good camera on a mobile phone is its battery requirements. And I don't see any indication of next generation battery solutions coming out in that area that will replace Li-ion/Ni-Mh/Poli Li (Methanol? nah, not for phones).

Well, TI's OMP chips may help out a bit but can it catch up to like the latest Canon EOS, Sigma SD10, Finepix S3 Pro, Nikon D2X, etc. (I'm drooling already)
or at least Sony's November release of it's 10megapixel Carl Zeiss Camera? :)

bah!

that's just bullsh!t... even if they manage to come up with a phone that can really equal the really good cams, i doubt it would be cheap (as in for the major buying public) and chances are, it would easily be broken (same thing with radios, the more buttons to push, the more likely that the system will crash soon)...

i'm buying both a new cam fone and upgrading my digicam soon...but i'd always put premium on the cam!!!
